We are walking the maintrail in the Carnarvon Gorge National Park and all the side branches clocking up about 30 km over about 9 hours. After recent rainfall the creeks were flowing and some of the 34 crossings were a bit challanging. We show you the Amphitheatre with incredible acoustics, the Art Gallery with interesting facts about the aboriginal drawings and the meaning behind them, the Ward‘s Canyon a beautiful tranquil space surrounded by rocks, the Cathedral Cave with more amazing aboriginal art paintings and last the Boowinda Gorge. We are moving on from our beautiful campsite in Emerald. We are driving on the Gregory Highway to our next campsite the Sandstone Park which is located just outside the Carnarvon National Park. We are staying at this dog friendly park for a few days to explore the Carnarvon Gorge National Park. First up, we are showing you the Mickeys Creek Gorge Walk with water crossings and some rock climbing involved. The Warrumbah Gorge is an absolute highlight and so stunningly beautiful. We keep driving on the Capricorn Highway from Dingo to Emerald (01:21h/124km). We set up our camp in the bush from where we explore the area. The next day we explore Emerald, walking through the beautiful botanic garden, visit Emerald historic railway station and had a look at the Big Easel. We enjoyed going down into a sapphire mine and listen to the history in Rubyvale. We also were fossicking through a bucket of wash. Driving on a off road track to Policemans Knob where we did see lots of rock wallabies and had a great view over the area. Visiting the Fairbairn Dam / Lake Maraboon just 10 minutes away from our campsite. We are travelling on the Capricorn Highway from Yeppoon to Dingo (02:16h/192km). Arriving before lunch time in Dingo, we checked in at the Dingo Caravan Park. It was fun visiting the Dingo Statue and take photos with Ozzy. But our main aim was to explore the Blackdown Tableland National Park. We show you some 4x4 tracks driving and hiking tracks in the National Park. We were walking to and swimming at the beautiful Rainbow Falls. Also had a swim in the amazingly beautiful rock pools on top of the falls. We did the Two Mile Walk and enjoyed a senic view from the Goodela lookout. We are staying at the Poinciana Tourist Park from where we explore beautiful Yeppoon. Play with Ozzy on Cooee Bay Beach which is dog friendly and close to the caravan park. We walk in the Double Head and Capricorn Coast National Park, take the Ferry over to Great Keppel Island with Ozzy in the wildest stormy weather. We explore Great Keppel Island on foot with scenic walking tracks and also snorkling the amazing reefs around the island.
