Cape York Trip: We woke up at sunrise to be ready for a long travel day. From our stay at Mountview Farm Stay, we drove and drove on the Bruce Hwy in southern direction. Late afternoon we reached our destination in Halliday Bay. We stayed at the Halliday Bay Resort with a powered ocean front site. From here we visited Cape Hillsborough and observed the Kangaroos on the beach and walked on to Wedge Island. We also checked out the close by town of Seaforth which has an impressive playground and waterplay for the kids. Cape York Trip: We are staying at Kerribee Park in Mareeba while exploring the area. This time it is only a quick visit to Kuranda to do some shopping. And of course we had to visit one of our favorite water falls, Emerald Falls. They are so pretty and dog friendly which is a plus for us. Our next stay is in Townsville. There is a beautiful campground just outside Townsville called Mount iew Farm Stay and Poodles. It was very convenient as we had to do some errands in Townsville during our stay. Cape York Trip: It is now time to see Elliot Falls and Twin Falls. We saved this for when we come back from the Tip. The Twin Falls were pretty spectacular as there was so much water flowing. After that it is a short walk to the Elliot Falls which are ideal to dip in and relax. You can swim at the bottom of the falls or go up a level. We had one last dinner with entertainment at the Bramwell Station. The next morning, it is time to make our way back on the PDR. We are staying at Artemis Station overnight and have a campfire going while watching the sunset. In the morning we are keen to spot the endangered Golden Shouldered Parrot. After that we are moving on to Mareeba. Cape York Trip: We arrive at the Bramwell Station Touristpark and to our surprise it was nearly empty. The green grass was a welcoming sight. From here we visit the Fruitbat Falls and enjoy a refreshing swim. We are crossing the Jardine river and set up camp at Seisa. Buying some souvenirs at the famous Croc tent and make it all the way to the tip, the most northern point of Australia. Cape York Trip: We are back on the Peninsula Development Road or PDR heading further north after a good night sleep at Hann River Roadhouse. We then turned off at Clay Hole Yards onto Portland Connection Rd driving towards the Iron Range NP. The Pascoe River crossing was an adventure and at Browns Creek we had to tow a truck out of the water. We stayed at a free camp near Browns Creek while exploring the Iron Range NP and Lockhart River. The weather turned bad and we had to give Chilli Beach a miss. We have lunch at the Moreton Telegraph Station. Cape York Trip: We left Cooktown early in the morning as we were all excited to spend time at Elim Beach. It took us about 1.30 hours first on Endeavour Vally Road than on Cooktown McIvor River Road to Hopevale where we had a short break. After that we drove on Elim Road and the last few kilometers gravel / sand track to the campground. And wow we scored a beach front campsite with stunning views towards the coloured sands and surrounding islands. The next day we drove the first time on sand to the coloured sand caves. Enjoyed exploring the area with Ozzy as it is dog friendly. We drove over the Isabella Falls and vendured further along the Endeavour Battlecamp Rd despite passing a closed road sign. Cape York Trip: Back on the Bruce Hwy heading north, we decided to stay overnight at the Home Hill Showground after travelling 376km on the Hwy. Early the next morning we were off to the Bali Hai Child Free Holiday Park where we explored Mission Beach and the dog friendly Wongaling Beach. We then made it to Cooktown after an overnighter in Mareeba. We went up the Grassy Hill and soaking up the stunning 360 degree view from the lighthouse. Cape York Trip: We decided to stay at Red Rock Campground in the Byfield State Forest in the hope to do some 4x4 driving. We scored one of the last campsite suitable for a caravan. It was Saturday and very busy. We were heading to Upper Stony Creek the next morning. This is a very attractive swimminghole with turquoise clear water and Silvia of course had a refreshing swim. The next day we are on our way to Notch Point. We are very eager and excited to tackle the way in. The way in was challenging with narrow parts and lots of water. We had a great time at notch point with the greatest view possible.
